As a convenience for our patients, we have invited the surgeons from Eye Associates of Southern Indiana to frequent each of our offices for consultations.
Meet these specialists…
The doctors at the Eye Care Group provide patients of all ages with the most thorough, comprehensive eye examinations available. Keeping your eyes healthy is our goal. At ECG we believe in not only treating visual problems, but also treating the whole patient. Regular vision and ocular health examinations can reveal not only visual issues but systemic problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and arthritis.
We work closely with your family physicians and specialists to ensure that you have the best overall health care available.
The American Optometric Association recommends eye examinations at 6 months, 3 years, 6 years, and every year thereafter.
Whether you see 20/20, wear glasses, or wear contact lenses, we recommend a yearly comprehensive eye examination. During a comprehensive exam our doctors will assess your visual requirements, observe how your eyes work together, and perform a thorough examination of the exterior and interior structures of your eyes. Learn more about what to expect at your eye exam here.
We strive to have the latest equipment and testing options available for your best care. Equipment such as Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) provides a “MRI” of the layers of the eye that may not be seen with a traditional examination. This is invaluable in the treatment of macular degeneration, retinal holes, glaucoma, and diabetes.
Other advanced equipment found at ECG includes a corneal topographer. This maps the front surface of the eye for irregularities and diseases. We also have equipment to assist your eye surgeon in the basic measurement for cataract implants.
At ECG we are constantly researching new diagnostic equipment to advance our care for our patients.
Our doctors are trained to guide you within our scope of practice and beyond. We will fully educate you in regards to what is best for you and your health. Sometimes glasses and contact lenses are not the answer to better vision. We work closely with other specialists to offer multifocal lens implants, LASIK, PRK, and vision training.
According to the American Optometric Association, Vision Therapy is a series of neurosensory and neuromuscular activities that is prescribed in order to improve and enhance a patient’s visual skills and processing. The therapy program is designed after the patient has completed a comprehensive examination and a sensory motor examination, which reveal important test results and patient signs and symptoms. At ECG we strongly believe proper eye care has a huge impact on children and their learning abilities. Studies have shown that not only vision, but the visual learning process, affects how children learn and read. We work closely with educators and school nurses to screen and detect visual problems. We devote our time to school screenings throughout the community and also to educate classes about the amazingly complex system of sight.
At ECG we take a special interest in our geriatric patients. We are continuously advancing in our detection and treatment of age related diseases. In our Madison office, we have a retinal specialist, Dr. Jacob Yunker, who treats the more advanced cases. We are proud to have partnered with the Eye Associates of Southeastern Indiana to have our cataract patients seen conveniently in all three of our locations. We are proud to provide convenient and exceptional care to our patients and our communities.
Our doctors fit a wide variety of contact lenses. If you have a large prescription, astigmatism, presbyopia, or keratoconus, we are here for you. We will help you choose which contact lens is best for you and your lifestyle.
We also provide specialty lenses in our Madison office such as Ortho-K and Ambiodisk.
Ortho-K is a technique which shapes the cornea or front of the eye while you sleep allowing you to have 20/20 vision during the day without the aid of contacts or glasses.
The Ambiodisk lens is a therapeutic device used in our offices to protect, repair, and heal damaged eye surfaces. This lens is approved to treat severe dry eye, chemical burns, and corneal defects.
Specialty Eyeglasses for Sports and Safety
Our offices serve many local industries with safety prescriptions and eyewear. We partner with some of the local companies to help our patients select the right safety glasses for their positions. We also have sports goggles available at all of our locations.
